Staff profile – Mika Shapwanale

Here at Mushara, all our staff are important but we have especially high hopes for Mika, who we expect will take over the management of the Lodge in the future. He’s really an amazing person – we have watched him over the years since we first visited the nearby Ghaup guest farm. Read his story in hos own words below:

Hi there,

My name is Mika Shapwanale, and I would like to tell you little bit about myself:
I was Born 27/03/1978 at Engela in Ohangwena Region Namibia, attended primary/secondary school there.
My first working place was Guestfarm Ghaub – Grootfontein District, part of O&L that time, that’s where I started working on 07 January 1998 as gardener until February 2000.
In March 2000 I moved from garden to Maintenance department where I worked as Handyman & driver until May 2003.
In June 2003 I moved from Maintenance department to restaurant department, where I worked as Waiter, Bartender & guide until December 2005.
In January 2006 I was appointed as Acting General Manager of Guestfarm Ghaub until November 2006 when I was appointed as General Manager of Guestfarm Ghaub, and I held this position until 31 March 2016.
On 11 April 2016 I was appointed by Mr / Mrs Pampe as General Manager for the Mushara Collection. I am very passionate about Tourism and always enjoy my work. I enjoyed my 18 years at Guestfarm Ghaub, and for me to join the Mushara Collection team is another step up and I look forward to adding great value to this wonderful organization.
